Peter J. Mogayzel, Jr, MD, PhD Director, Cystic Fibrosis Center

Welcome to HopkinsCF.org, a sophisticated, online resource that encompasses all aspects of cystic fibrosis (CF). Here you will find pioneering research, novel therapies to treat the basic defect that causes CF and new ways to manage CF at home. The complexity of the treating CF requires a partnership between people with CF, their families and providers. There is no cure for CF yet, but new and better ways to treat the disease are being developed at Johns Hopkins and other CF Centers around the world. We know our site will provide you with the knowledge and resources to help fight CF.

The Knowledge section of our site contains information about the basic biology, diagnosis and effects of CF. The Clinical Care section provides information to help you understand and manage CF treatments at home and inpatient care at Johns Hopkins. The Meet the Team pages introduce our physicians and staff, from nurses to nutritionists and therapists, who work with you each day to fight CF and improve your quality of life. The Research section will keep you up to date on the latest clinical trials and bench-to-bedside therapies at Johns Hopkins

There is no one CF experience, but thousands of experiences influenced by factors like the severity of the disease, age and gender, family circumstances, and access to care. You can exchange your experiences, successes and struggles, via our social media sites. These sites also tell the Johns Hopkins CF Center’s story including research advances and upcoming events.

Our vision is to substantially improve the health and quality of life of our patients and have a significant Impact on the field of cystic fibrosis by introducing new therapies and developing national leaders through our training programs.

The Johns Hopkins CF Center has been providing expert multi-disciplinary care to children and adults for over half a century. Approximately 600 people with CF are treated regularly at Johns Hopkins. The success of our approach to CF care is evidenced by the fact that we have one of the largest adult CF care programs in the country.

We strive to provide the best possible care in order to slow the progression of lung disease. Our approach to CF care is aimed at preventing problems and maximizing nutrition and lung health. We are proud of our clinical outcomes that you can view at the  CF Foundation website. We are actively involved in quality improvement and constantly re-examine our practices to identify areas that can be improved. Our research program extends from the laboratory bench to the bedside to develop new therapies to improve the lives of people with CF.
